Corona or covid-19 is one of the worst epidemics that has changed our lives for more than a year now and is still having a major impact on the economies of the countries. However, in such a technologically advanced world, it took a long time for mankind to find a cure for this vicious virus. It's been a year since the first information about the disease was finally known, and there is talk of various vaccines against the disease in different countries. Today we wanted to talk about this vaccine called covishield, which is being vaccinated in Sri Lanka with the approval of the World Health Organization, among the vaccines that are being talked about, clinically tested and approved. Due to the widespread misconceptions about the vaccine, anyone who is in doubt can read this description to dispel that suspicion.

1. Covishield vaccine

What is this Covishield vaccine? Covishield is actually the brand name of this vaccine. That is the brand name used to market the vaccine. The vaccine's real name is Oxford – AstraZeneca. This vaccine is an intramuscular injection given against the covid-19 virus. The vaccine was developed as a milder version of the common cold virus called adenovirus from chimpanzees. The vaccine modified the virus to be very similar to the corona virus. This vaccine, which is given in two doses with an interval of at least one month, is currently one of the leading vaccines against Kovid.

2. Discovery and production

The vaccine was discovered by a team of researchers at the University of Oxford in England. They were contacted by AstraZeneca in the United States when they were looking for a suitable company to manufacture and test the vaccine on a large scale. The Oxford team will eventually work with AstraZeneca to carry out the test, although there is little evidence that the vaccine will be distributed worldwide if it is manufactured by an American company. The US government has a big influence on that decision.
